Msunduzi Hospice Association deals with various instances of advancing incurable disease. We adopt an approach of holistic care and are therefore sensitive to, and respect the individual mind, body and spirit needs of our patients and their families, regardless of the nature of the incurable illness.

    Since 1983, Prestbury Office of Msunduzi Hospice Association has built up specialised knowledge and gained experience in the area of home based palliative care and practical and emotional support for people with advancing incurable disease, including support to the family. Most commonly we have cared for people with different cancer types and emphysema. As an association, increasingly we gain experience in caring for people with HIV/Aids.

    Since amalgamation in 1999, the Edendale office of Msunduzi Hospice Association continues in its endeavours to build a range of holistic care services.  This office most commonly deals with people diagnosed with HIV/AIDS and offers support also to the families of these people.  With the overwhelming demand for Hospice care and support, it is our hope that our existing range of services can be developed.  We also hope eventually to introduce day care and bereavement care service to those members of our community. Our specific focus is on emotional support to children infected with and affected by HIV/AIDS.

    Msunduzi Hospice Association covers the entire Pietermaritzburg (and greater Pietermaritzburg area).  We also operate further afield, as resources allow.   If you would like to find out how to enlist the services offered by Msunduzi Hospice please feel free to contact us directly.  Contact is also sometimes made through attending doctors and hospitals so please do not hesitate to discuss with your attending physician.
